DAY TRIP RIVER RUNNING ON THE SALMON RIVER,
'THE RIVER OF NO RETURN'

A must-do activity for those visiting the Sun Valley area is a river trip on the Salmon river near Stanley, Idaho. Visitors can choose from a wide variety of trips as well as various types of craft. These river trips are fun and safe for people of all ages. Water levels are highest during the Spring run-off months of May and June, with up to class 4 whitewater. Adequate water levels with class 3 whitewater continues throughout the summer season which can last until mid October. For those wishing a trip with no whitewater, a scenic float is available until August.

All trips begin at Sunbeam Village, which is located 12 miles north of Stanley. The scenic drive from Sun Valley to Sunbeam is 75 miles and takes about one and a half hours. Head north on Highway 75, turn left into Sunbeam Village just past mile marker 202.

The different types of trips offered are;

Types of river craft available:

• OAR BOATS - in these rafts the guests sit back and relax, while the guide sits in the middle and steers the boat down the river. This is best for people who want to fish, sit back and relax, or families with small children.

  

• PADDLE RAFTS - in these rafts each guest has a paddle and helps propel the raft down the river, while the guide steers and gives directions from the back. Paddle boats are fun and safe for active people of all age.

  

• INFLATABLE KAYAKS - these one person boats are fun and safe for the complete novice aged 14 and above. A sense of adventure is all that is needed to safely follow your guide through the rapids. Expert instruction is given before the trip begins.

HIGH WATER HALF DAY WHITEWATER TRIPS meeting time 10:00am. We add 4 miles of whitewater with two class 4 rapids to our regular half day whitewater trip. Offered from late May to early July with adequate water levels. $ 75.00 per person

HALF DAY WHITEWATER TRIP - meeting times 9:30 am 2 and 6 pm. We include a beverage and snack stop with cake breads, cookies, fruit, and non-alcoholic drinks.

HALF DAY SCENIC FLOAT - meeting times 9:30 am and 2:00 pm

DAY TRIPS
ONE DAY WHITEWATER TRIPS - meeting time 9:30 am includes a delicious lunch

EVENING WHITEWATER TRIPS - meeting time 4:00 pm - includes full dinner

LOCATION - All trips begin at Sunbeam Village, which is located 13 miles north of Stanley, Idaho, turn left just past mile marker 202 on Highway 75. Allow 1.5 hr. travel time from Sun Valley or Ketchum, just head north on Highway 75 for 73 miles.

GROUPS - We can handle groups up to 200. For groups of 20 or more we will make the trip exclusively yours. No outsiders will depart with you. We will customize the trip to your particular time and needs. Call for large group rates

TRANSPORTATION - Round trip bus or van transportation for groups of any size can be arranged. Cost is $20.00 per person. Tour guides and beverage service is also avilable at additional costs.
